Chiropractic BioPhysics Wins Honors at the 2015 World Federation

The Cairo University and Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP) NonProfit recently won top honors at the 2015 Word Federation of Chiropractic research conference, for the Best Original Research in the Mediterranean Region category.

The project was led by Ibrahim Mustafa, PT, PhD, and Aliaa Diab PT, PhD of Cairo University and Dr. Deed Harrison, President of CBP NonProfit, Inc., was a senior author on the project, entitled “Does Improvement Towards a Normal Sagittal Cervical Configuration Aid in The Management of Lumbosacral Radiculopathy: A Randomized Controlled Trial.”

The study tested a new method (the cervical Denneroll orthotic) for improving the cervical lordotic curvature and its impact on chronic low back pain and leg pain in 80 participants. The results indicated that adding the cervical Denneroll to generalized PT treatment improved the cervical spine posture and cervical curvature; this was found to have a positive impact on patient low back pain, disability, leg pain, and nerve function as measured with the H-reflex. The results were stable at 6 month follow up.

“We are ecstatic to have been honored by this prestigious award; I humbly accept this award on behalf of my co-authors and congratulate them for this outstanding achievement,” said Dr. Deed Harrison.

The World Federation of Chiropractic’s 13th Biennial Congress, incorporating the 2015 Annual Convention of the European Chiropractors’ Union, was hosted by the Hellenic Chiropractors’ Association in May 2015.

There were Chiropractic and Spine researchers from all over the world present at this nearly week-long conference. Of significance, Dr. Harrison and colleagues presented eight separate spine related research studies at this conference; while there were a total of 160 research projects in total presented at this event.

Professors Ibrahim Moustafa and Aliaa A. Diab are from the Basic Science Department, Faculty of Physical Therapy, at Cairo University and have authored several recent projects on spine injuries and disability and their consequent rehabilitation treatment methods. Dr. Deed Harrison is one of the preeminent authorities on corrective chiropractic using CBP methods, and the president of CBP Technique and Seminars. He is also the clinical director at the Ideal Spine Health Center in Boise / Eagle Idaho- a private corrective chiropractic practice.
